while it is true that a character may take a while to develop, by the time a series gets to 3 episodes it has already reached a length equivalent to a short movie and people still make AMVs with those (Dead Leaves is only abomut 50 minutes long), so should we say that AMVs made with movies are bound to be bad because they have limited source?

Sometimes you just have ideas that will work with what little footage you have. My RVG track with Chrono Trigger was originally planned that I could get it done with only the first DVD of Witch Hunter Robin. But by the time I got around to it I had a lot more. So a lot of poeple just have ideas they won't just sit on and will make their video with what they have.

As said, the mathmatical equation is too simplified, the same anime doesn't mean the same video nor does if the anime and song are identical. There are many ways to portray different things with anime A and song B.

As for compared to the original, while this mya be true if two people did the exact same song and anime with the same general idea it's rare. Especially if you mean on the grounds of just being the first one to make an amv to some new anime, if you ask around it will take a lot of work to actually track down and find out what was the first AMV for respective series.

That's just dumb to use an anime that only has a few eps out. For me...I am planning on making an AMV to Negima...Im going to wait until at least 20 eps are out. So I think people should wait a little bit before using a brand new anime.
