Not knowing the song, and assuming that you already get the idea that everyone is suggesting: be original, I'll suggest that maybe you could use those segments as a bridge between parts in your story.

If your song is broken into discrete sections, then you can formulate your video around those sequences. Just think of the video as a story that you have to tell really, really fast. and then compress it all down into beginning middle, end, and bridges. For the actual editing, you can do whatever suits your style best, be it flashes, straight cuts, or combo effects.
What works for you in a video is what makes them unique, for example: Otohiko has a video with a really, really long quiet section in it, with almost nothing at all happening on the screen, and yet it's immensely popular. Luck.
