WAY WAY back when I was little I remember an anime called unico or something... seemed to have the sense your talking about (little girls music things). You might find some usable footage from the junkheap they had there.

In an early episode of Azumanga Daioh, theres a sdcene where Chiyo-chan is being controlled by her hair...
