amv release dilemma....

Post by shadow050 » Wed Sep 29, 2004 10:01 am

sup everyone... a lil' while back i posted a thread about a neji video i was working on and stated that it would have scenes from the naruto vs. neji fight and the kidoumaru vs neji fight, and i told all neji fans out there that there would be a lil' wait since that fight has yet to come. a reply to that thread said that i should only say what i have, not what i'm workin' on so i decided to complete the video but have it focused only on the neji vs naruto fight. this "finished" amv that i've made is only temp. so i was wondering if i should release it... it's a cool amv, the only thing i'm worried about is that when i get the neji vs. kidoumaru footage the "real" finished product will have prolly helf of the same exact footage as the one i have right now... :(
so i'd like some feedback... should i release my temp. neji amv now, edit it when i get the footage a wanted from the beginning and release that too? or should i not release this and wait to i can edit it? like i said, they will be two different videos, but... what do ya'll think?

I'd personally wait patiently for the stuff you want, and then put out a finished product. And while you're waiting, use the half-finished video as your experiment ground - try every effect/style you can think of on it. That way when you get the rest of the footage, you'll be ready to make something great.
Life's short.

x2. I'm planning the same thing, I too have to wait for Kidoumaru vs Neji to come out. So I know how you feel.
Add to that, this site's catalog is for completed videos, not works in progress, so unless you consider your video as it stands now a finished product, It'd probably be a good idea to wait.

I'd wait so you can make the video how you like it before releasing anything, the video will turn out better and you won't have two conflicting enteries on the org.

see... the thing is that the one i have right now is finished. it's actually 4 minutes long too. i like it a lot and some people around me saw it too and liked it. but either way i'm gonna want to do the other one... i'm kinda lookin' at it as a story with 2 endings... my friend, whose computer i made the video on thinks that i should release this one and the other, being that i won't have that footage for quite a WHILE (appearently)...
*sigh* what to do, what to do...?

in three days you're not going to like it.
no offense to your video, but that's just a psychological effect that happens whenever you finish a video: you're so happy that you finished the video, that you don't notice small mistakes.

wait a few days without watching it, and then come back to it. you'll find millions of errors that you didn't notice before. then you can fix the mistakes and make the vid all the better before releasing it.

actually, i've been lookin' for mistakes for a while... i've been finding them and getting 'em out. i really want it to be good and, at least thus far, i've been one hell of a critic. i used to draw alot (and i still kinda do), so i have an artist's mind for prefectionism... although "perfection" is something real hard to achieve. it may be that i release it, and everyone hates it and/or finds errors all over the place. whatever may happen i think i'll at least gain experience from it, which will go quite far for my futrue projects. i'll just have to do it and see...

If what you are proposing is that you have practically the same two videos but with alternate endings, then I would have to say, if you release what you have now and people start seeing it, then they might end up getting bored of what they've seen of it already and opinions of the next video if you do upload it will be soured... Just wait...

... just my opinions really...

well... i've already released it. i released it, then remastered it and released it again. i think it's fairing okay... i'm not disappionted all thus far. the only thing i wish is that people would respond to it.
