question for all those who make AMVs and take out the subs
I have noticed that in most of the AMVs(al least Inuyasha's) you take out the subtitles... I just wanted to ask why... I thonk that many times what the characters are saying is as important as what they are doing, for example... the people who make Inuyasha's AMVs, haven't you noticed that the kiss scene in the 2nd movie is muuuch cuter when you know what they are saying?

Subs tend to get on peoples nerves. Also if your the mod of a song is dark in a place, and the character is expressing joy, or vice-versa, that can really throw the viewer off. However, If you can make it work I don't mind it so much. The only video with subs that I made wherein the subs actually fit the action, was a 7min Beethoven piece. The subs gave it almost a silent movie feel. But that was only because the video was a relively uncut fight sequence.

It depends. Sometimes you can keep subtitles in to enhance the meaning of the song. But it's rare and tricky to pull it off, cause often the scene you want you have somebody talking abuot something irrevelent. Then, being the sub-loving people we are, our eyes automatically look down to read the message and we miss the picture that we're supposed to be watching.
Some amv contests require there to be no subtitles in your video. One of my favorite vids that I did, I had scenes from just one episode that was subtitled. No way around it, and I'm not cool enough to know how to remove them. However, where they are, for understanding purposes, I almost would've put them in myself, to show what they were talking about. I plan to remake it, now that I've got a unsubbed version of the ep so I can enter it in a contest next year, so I have to figure a way around it to tell the story.
