I need some animes featuring very effeminate males who are not homosexual or animes where a homosexual guy gets turned down by a straight man. So far all I could really think of is Eva and Saber Mariotnette J. Anyone have more suggestions?

For the first one, there are a lot of bishounen all over. For the second, Onegai Twins has several scenes like that, where a gay guy hits on a straight guy (can't be bothered to remember names). Thing is, Twins is liscensed, but not out.

There's also Kare Kano, where Asaba often looks like he's hitting on Arima, but he's not really gay either.

And I don't remember seeing any gay guys in Evangelion...

But whatever.

Shinji and Kaworu. I wouldn't go so far as to say Shinji is gay, it was much more a platonic soulmate thing than being sexually attracted, but there's some definate overtones in that part. Especially on Kaworu's part, he lost his head over his love for another man...

I wonder if choking the chicken over an unconcious girl is a common way for guys to stay in the closet? Regardless, what I need is footage suggesting a relationship (without going into hentai) rather than an actual gay guy. Actually, with the idea I'm using having Shinjis sexuality in question works a lot better anyway.

Anno (the creator of Eva) didn't want Kaworu to be gay!

The Evangelion Radio Drama Track (track 2 on the Neon Genesis Evangelion Addition soundtrack) is the only other "episode" that we see Kaworu. It was written and directed by Anno, and even though it's a parody I think it gives great insight into some of the characters.

In the Drama Track Asuka calls Kaoru gay and Kaworu takes offense to that, telling her to not spread rumours. In other words Kaworu denies it and asks Asuka to stop spreading false stories. I think that is pretty much confirmation of it straight from the "lips" of Anno himself (and it also makes a quip at all those who said he was gay.).
