Depends on the video. Usually it depends on the tone of the video combined with its skill. An upbeat video generally will inspire admiration that makes me want to work on more stuff, even if I can't hope to achieve its level. A downbeat video, while equally good, will inspire admiration that makes me want to curl into the fetal position in a corner and cry.

And then, well, eventually make videos. But only after I've forgotten about it. ;)

Intimidation...maybe the only thing I'm REALLY scared about is VirtuaAnime, because I am shit with Poser & Mia.

I don't really want to win...I just want to see everyone else fail. Whether or not I win matters little to me.

The only thing that intimidates me in an AMV is one that doesn't have to be well put together or have much effort; but is just fun to watch.

I've never been intimidated. And when I see a video that I find truely awesome, I'm inspired. But it's never to surpass that video. Im a strong believer in the relativity of words like "Better" and "Best". I just feel like making something that I'll find awesome as well.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

It depends on the setting, not the video. If it isn't a competition, I feel inspired. I can see the video, think about what I didn't like and what I did, and incorperate that into mine. Not take ideas, but make my own based on improvements of others and add original (as far as I know) ideas. If it were a competition, the name more than the video would be intimidating. Of course if it were good, but name recognition carries a lot of people just as far as your skill. Like if I were to go against AbsoluteDestiny I would freak, because he turns out excellent videos and probably carries a crowd almost anywhere.

I'm not too proud to say I've never been intimidated by a good vid, but I'm more often inspired. I'm pretty new, so when I see a good one I think, "Wow. You can DO that? I wonder what *I* can do."
This is a painlessly short sig.

Nether. Because a vast majority are abusive with effects. I don't feel intimidated when somone copys everything they saw in Euphoria. I feel terrible and wonder why i'm in this hobby.

When i see a good video i don't feel inspired. I am happy though because ive seen another good video. I happen to beleave that a huge majority of what's possible with AMVs just hasn't been done.
This has no relevence to the discussion above it

for me i don't know if it is intimidation. i know for a fact right now that i cannot and probably will not do half of the things that people do in amvs because that isn't my biggest priority. highest priority is to complete the idea that is in my head because it will keep coming back if i don't. now that doesn't mean i don't sit back and let out a big "whoa" when i see something good. i won't change my style whatever it is because i saw it. if anything seeing a video makes me want to make more videos myself.
