Instermental Music?

Post by nemesisENFORCER » Fri Mar 26, 2004 1:37 am

How do you guys feel about instermental music in AMVs. I just listened to the soundtrack from Silent Hill 2. I really like the music from room 312 especially and thought of doing a video with no vocals. What do you guys think.

I feel very good about it.

In fact, were I to have all the time and DVD's in the world, I wouldn't ever stop making instrumental vids

There's a good range, but generally a lot of them are either a) classical, b) classical-inspired music.

For good references, there's a whole VCA (Viewer's Choice Awards) category called 'Instrumental', so any of those are generally good.

I guess it depends on what kind of instrumentals you're looking for.

Check out this past year's nominees...

Go here and scroll down to 'Instrumental'

They're all excellent, but personally I liked 'hmm' the best since... well... my reaction was 'how the hell do you pull that off?'. I never thought solo acoustic guitar music could even approach 'working' for an AMV.

Then, there's last year's winner, Fluxy's Souls of Rage and Sorrow, which is also pretty darn good.

And if you're in the mood for something non-classical-inspired, you could also give my recent attempt, The Wasteland a look

Hey nice name I use that when playing Unreal Tournament 2003. :) I would recomend Ermac Studios - Evil Light.

How about techno / game remix music? such as the kind found on www.ocremix.com? I'm doing a video right now to a remixed Doom track I found on that site. An already existing example is Ken Shimazu's AMGM_LOSS video.... which doesn't seem to get the recognition I think it deserves. Is it just not alot of people like that kind of music?

Instrumental vids can be the best, but timing in them is much more crutial. however, when done right, they're absolutely fabulous.
