capturing pc game footage

ok i was just wondering, is their a way to capture pc game footage ? im not talking about the mpeg cgi scenes that ya can just find in the install folder, but actualy footage of me playing the game. i know that i can use my gf4's tv-out to use my tv as a monitor, then conect a vcr to it and just record it that way. but sadly i dont have the equipment or money to get the footage from my tv to my pc (no tv-in on my shity vga). so is their anyone that know's how i could record real time footage using just my pc ?
