OH BLESS YOU ALL. It works. FINALLY. Been working basically 48 hours straight...even messed up my computer so bad that at one point all I could do was reformat it. But now it works. And I'm happy.
What happened in the end was just as Wolfwood described: I can't access the ftp://24.24.117.168 server because I'm on the internal network, but cuz I'm on the network I can access ftp://192.168.0.160.
I did have to tell my router to enable a virtual server on port 21 on IP 192.168.0.160. That was the key to getting 24.24.117.168 working in the first place.
But now all is fine. I asked a friend to see if 24.24.117.168 worked and it did, and 192.168.0.160 works for me. Thanks everyone...never coulda done it without y'all.

I'd sure like to know how he could host one with a linksys in the way, the only way I can turn on port 21 is if I turn off DHCP, and that's the whole reason I got a damn router.trythil wrote:I do, however, have a friend who has had the exact same problems with LinkSys routers. As I'm not aware of their individual quirks, I'll have to ask him what he did to get around the problems.
