Are Voiceovers A Bad Idea?

If I'm trying to do something humourous involving dialogue, is it acceptable to do a voiceover? And how do I make the voiceover acceptable? Soundbyte construct it, or just use a friend who's good at giving a convinving line?

That would be an interesting spoof advert. Yes, it would.

I know vicbond uses it for his intros and it is do-able by just getting a friend I guess. Depends on how good they voice-act I guess. Also the context of the scene. I'm more prone to believe something comedic than something dramatic (no offense to you or your friends).

taht name sounds familiar ... did he play a lot of quake 2? if he did what was his name? Odds are when i was playing with 56k i problaby got owned a few hundred dozen times by him (any any one else who was around)

regarding voiceovers...

I had an interesting idea for the Apple spoof adverts. I take the original audio from the advert and put it to anime characters isolated against a white background.

Heck, I could switch the words "Mac" and "PC", run the clips through a soundbyte algorithm to smooth it over and pass it off as a Dell advert.

I think its a great idea. When i used Studio DV to make a movie with my friends at school, it really helped! And it sounded much better.
Definatly do it if its for humor like ours was, lol
