HQ AMVs needed

Post by Zontique » Wed Apr 16, 2003 8:45 am

Hi there. We're here (in Russia, he-he ^_^) are planning the 4th annual anime convention in Voronezh and so I need AMVs that are worthy to be projected to an xtremely large screen. They should either be excellently encoded or be really interesting. Preferably both. ^_^ So... where should i go? I've already got the VCA AMVs, anything else?

Well, you've definitely come to the right place. :) If there are any particular AMVs you're interested in getting high-quality copies of, you are probably going to be best off contacting the creators directly and asking for high-quality encodes. Most of us have them around or can make them, as we usually send in much better encodes to conventions than we put out for normal distribution (simply because a good encoded AMV can easily be several hundred MB, and most people don't like downloading that large of a file). If you've got a bit of time, you might want to browse around the AMV database and see if there are any video that catch your fancy- in a week, everyone will be able to download from the Dangling Carrot, and you will have lots of AMVs to DL and look through.

Another option is to contact Red Wolf and his AMV distro center to see about getting copies of all of the AMVs he has on CD for distribution. I know at least some people put higher-quality copies on their CDs than online.

Another good resource when looking for AMVs that are 'good' would be the AMV Contest Exhibition Page, which compiles lists of the winning videos from recent conventions, as the VCAs didn't include any of the videos made since the begininng of this year.

Anyhow, if you're interested in any of my videos, please let me know! I'd be more than happy to try and get you good, high-quality encodes of them. :)

Once again - itz Russia here, sending the CDs is... errr... almost impossible, and d/l from the net is kinda xpensive. So i'm looking for a compromise. I do enjoy the Play Excel Play vid - small size and brilliant video quality. If you can get the HQ copies online, go for it - I'll d/l them.

Hey Ashyukun,

Who runs that AMV Contest Exhibition Page? The links to video listings here on the site are all messed up.

Hey Phade,
It's TaranT's... , he's still using legacy. I though it was newer than that.

Yup, D_V (that looks like a weird smiley of sorts... anyway...) is right, I dug it up from the contests forum, and the link is in TaranT's sig. I didn't check out the links beyond looking at a few of the contest pages... :?

Yeah, that's my site. And I'm two days ahead of you :D.

I noticed those "legacy" links on Monday and posted the corrected pages today. Only a few lists had the problem. I would have put them up earlier, but I've been compiling some history (2000-2002) data for Anime North. That should be up soon along with Anime Boston results after the weekend.
