People's low standarts for AMV

I've seen many AMVs from the early years of YouTube that were made with even less effort than that.

I mean what's the point in spending dozens of hours meticulously editing something for something you can't monetize and maybe a dozen people will even see? And why am I still here lmao

AMVs have a number of things working against them when it comes to distribution within the general USA and beyond. This is in no small part to the words "in limited instances" and "non commercial video"existing in the same section of the DMCA 2012 update and even stricter copywrite protections in the EU.

Those words "in limited instances" run directly a foul of video sharing sites goals of getting the maximum views causing even the best AMVs to get lower than expected views.

In addition AMVs historical use of pirated software and Media makes new advertising using AMVs a touchy subject.

There will always be amateurs in the hobby or at least amvs that you think are terrible based off your standards. Also, the hobby has grown. More people and higher expectations combined with different styles are the new norm. It can be challenging to find new great amvs. I do know that I do see some great amount of good amvs every year still.

The akross contest this year had a weird form of this that involved very badly put together porn. (I was trying to avoid watching it by skipping over all the dirty portions, I am probably the only person that ever does this by and require to watch the videos but I do not wanna see any of the dirty portions) I feel like you almost have to see this stuff to believe how bad it is. there was other good stuff later in the contest but I feel like I should mention this really weird subgenre a very bad AMV while we are talking about this.

also this was the akross contest, not saying as it is volunteer-based it never gets anything of a not perfect amv but it is usually one of the best places to see something perfect. I wish this was one video but I think they were like 5 of these. I usually do not talk in this section and I was only looking for a particular song today from a AMV and I decided to go around looking at some of the board stuff but I am really hoping that this is a fluke this year more than anything else. (still would recommend checking the site because there were a few good ones)
