How Do You Stay Motivated to Finish an AMV?

Post by bettylim » Tue Oct 07, 2025 1:57 am

Hey everyone,
I often start an AMV full of ideas and energy, but halfway through, I lose motivation or get bored with it.
It ends up sitting unfinished for weeks.
How do you guys push through and actually finish your projects? Any tips for staying inspired?

The answer is actually exactly this. Taking breaks from projects and coming back to them when you feel motivated is important. And then you'll be able to work on it bit by bit. Forcing yourself to edit will cause you to burn yourself out and not enjoy the process.

Deadlines are my motivator. If I get in that point where I don't have the personal drive, deadlines help me power thru that slump and fill the timeline.

I think Kire nailed it - when the ideas aren't flowing, a break is needed. It is a creative hobby after all.

Sometimes if I want to edit something but don't feel the spark, I just work on a different video. I've got a serious project going as well as something goofy, so I can work on whatever I'm feeling at the time.

I have plenty of unfinished projects that are years old now. The amvs that I finished was due to deadlines most of the time. Now while working on an amv, if I get stuck somewhere or loose motivation, I'll jump to another section or even another amv project.
