Recently, I found myself finding the random motivation to make an amv, but once I get to about 30 seconds in I usually give up or leave it for a while just because I can't think of anything for that part of the song. When I first began making amvs I never gave any thought to the scene selection or moments that link to the song but I just loved making them and that's all I thought about doing and just making sure that it cut on beat. However now that I try to make things as good as they can be, I only ever make stuff less than a minute long just to test some effects and transitions for myself for when I do decide to make a full length AMV one day, whenever that day might be.
I've seen some people mention that they just hear song's online / on the radio and that tends to spure the idea into their head and yea, sure, I've got a few idea's for amv's that way but like I said, when push comes to shove finding the right scene to fill that gap or match that lyric just never comes to mind, so that's why I come here since I'd assume you guys struggle with this all the time.
Thank's in advance.

I think it's good to pick up and put down projects as the feeling takes you. For one thing, an edit I think looks good on one day feels stilted the next.
When you step away from a problem, your mind is still working on it. So long as you don't have a deadline, why not use this to your advantage and reopen the project when inspiration strikes?

I throw things together pretty roughly at first to get a bit of a rough draft, and then I go back through the timeline multiple times and make adjustments and new changes as I rewatch them.

I also listen to a lot of music outside of the radio, since a lot of radio tracks don't really do much for me.

Yeah, I do this alot too myself, but when I rewatch some of the rough work I get so frustrated with myself for not doing something better, even though I'm totally clueless to what to replace it with or how to merge it with the rest of the video.
