Guys, I will be totally honest right off the bat. I am not very AMV knowledgable, nor even terribly anime knowledgeable. I've watched and enjoyed a handful of the big names (Evangelion etc.)
I have a rather obscure request. I registered tonight after spending a good 4 hours searching for an old AMV online. Has to be 2004 give or take a year.
What makes it tough is that it apparently is one of the most overdone AMV songs EVER.
Bring me to life, Evanescence. (Bring the groans, I'm sick of it at the moment too, after listening to bits of it for 4 hours)
The thing that made the AMV sorta unique and cool in my eyes was it mirrored the real video to an extent... I distincly remember a girl leaping from a building towards the second half of the video.
Just curious if anyone can find a needle in a haystack for me.
Cheers and thanks!
this is a very long shot...

Unfortunately you wont find any evanescence videos here. Their record label sent us a C&D letter and the org's administration complied. Too bad because apparently the band had contacted some of our members with compliments.
That said, the video might be out on youtube or another site so i'm sure someone here might have an idea of what your talking about, it just might be difficult.

.. they seem to hold things 4 years at Utube;
at least I can find nothing older than four years
old with "Bring me to life" and "Evanescence."

Well I remember that the download links cant be used any more but cant they still be listed without any download links?
Seeker, try this:
Click on the Super Search link. You can find this by clicking on Search for AMVs on the side menu bar.
In the Super Search page type in Evanessence, and Bring me to life in the Musical Artist and Song fields
At the bottom you will see a +Order By
Click on that and set the options to Newest, and uncheck the Descending box. This will find all the videos that meet your criteria and put the oldest at the top
Hope that helps

Re: this is a very long shot...
Hey guys! Found what I was looking for... at least sort of. I think I found it.
The AMV isn't exactly as i remember it.... But I am 80% sure it's the right one. Keep in mind I have not seen it in 6 years give or take. I'm not 100% convinced there is not another Utema AMV to this song out there that I cannot find or is no longer readily publicly available. Nonetheless, after spending a few more nights using the super search options I found a particular Utema AMV that has the same feel (It is one of 6 or 8 Utema AMV's out there to this song, but it is one of the more available ones).
If anyone is curious, watch the official video for the song, then google "utema amv bring me to life"... it is the top link that will pop up. It has a scene VERY reminiscent of the climax of the original video.
I find the Anime from this series to be quite beautiful... most of the Anime I enjoy is... not quite sure how to phrase it, but not "childlike". The characters don't look like little kids, there is none of the silly rivers for tears and X's for eyes etc.
I am curious if the series is worthwhile.... just because the animation is beautiful doesn't mean the story is worth anything.
Any thoughts?
And again, thanks for the suggestions on how to find it!
Cheers!

Re: this is a very long shot...
Oh, come to think of it, I DO have one more request.
I have a friend of a friend, from out of town. A month or 2 ago we were talking at a party and AMV's came up, It is what got me on the first wild goose chase. Of course I promptly forgot the name of the song.
Caveat - I don't have this guy's number and would feel really silly calling him out of the blue when I hardly know him about this.
He swore up and down that he cannot watch AMV's any more because a handful of years back he encountered an AMV to a Tool song that, in his opinion put all others to shame.
I'm not terribly familiar with Tool, I have no problem with them but not a big fan either. I'm sure there is a ton of AMV's out there to Tool songs, I wouldn't know where to start.
Anyone have any suggestions for exceptionally well done AMV's to a Tool song? I am rather curious.
