how do i make an AMV

i'm new,like 2 minutes in new, and i was wondering...ok truthfully i really need help. i have absalutly no clue how to make an AMV.i use windows movie maker for all my videos.can some one please give me step by step instructions? i tried following a 'how to make AMV's on WMM' video but i got lost and my clips only popped up on my media player...and it was the sound only. please help me

You take some anime, you take some music. You cut the anime up and put it back together so it's different than it was when you started. You make sure it matches the music. And there you go.

That is an oversimplified explanation. Of course it is far more complicated than that. And a lot harder.
