my response is who cares?

Original animation is awesome.

I don't care if it's not an AMV anymore.

I assume that if the original animation is made by one of the loyal org members, it's not that big a strech to allow it to be hosted here.

And if anyone thinks it's an easy Job. IT ISN'T and it's getting worse. However for those that are on the very fine line I always try to run it past the other admins and moderators on this site for a group decision...

As for original Animation, one has to be real careful as allowing totally original animation could open the door to us hosting anything that is animated and thus it would start to become an Animation video site and not AMVs... However a lot of AMVs that use original animation with anime have never been a problem... And we even evaluate ones that are in the style and spirit of anime as acceptable. However it sort of on a case by case bases to ensure fairness but not suddenly allow the rules for any form of animation with music attacked to it

As for live action wit cosplayers, that's opening the door to anyone putting up videos from cons set to music...

Perhaps slightly off topic...

While I know there are people who find this site's policies regarding what is anime and what is not restrictive, a-m-v.org is quite open and accepting of an enormous range of "AMVs." Consider what most cons will allow into their AMV competitions - there are many videos hosted by this site that would not be acceptable in a competition because they play too fast and loose with the "A" part of "AMV."

I've never thought of a-m-v.org as a place that seeks to stifle or limit creativity, but it's not like the videos it doesn't find appropriate have nowhere else to go, either. There's a place on the Internet for just about anything anyone could ever want to make (which is not necessarily a good thing or even legal).
