Romantic help.

I've been wanting to make an AMV centered around romance. I have my song and my source, but I'm just uneasy about it. I'm not a very good romantic IRL and that's really hitting me in this video.

My question is what are some points I need to focus on when it comes to the video? Mood sync? Beat sync? A little bit of both? Should the video have a build up, climax and dramatic end or...a consistant pace through out? I'm just unsure. Never made a video like this before.

Apologies if any of this is too vague.

It all just depends on what you are trying to convey. Is it the romance of the characters, or are you super-imposing your own romantic experiences into this AMV? Do you have a specific story you want to tell, or are you trying to show some sort of change taking place? Or do you not really have anything in mind, and just want to show us, "this is how it is," (whatever it is) through your AMV?

Figure out what you're trying to say, get the scenes into place to set the mood, and then go back and make it all synced up nice-and-pretty. If you get too caught up in what the video should technically be this way or that way, you may find yourself losing sight of why you wanted to make it in the first place.

i would say focus on mood sync, and screw beat sync... romance is supposed to make you feel something, not make you think "oh thats synced well" and feel nothing

yea, i would agree with JaddziaDax, mood sync is the way to go with romance.

most romantic songs dont have really strong and regular beats like action ones, there are some of course but usually it's a smooth sound. with romantic/sentimental amvs i find that it's best if you can get the scenes to "flow" with the music, listening to the changes in the music and matching them with transitions between scenes (fade ins/outs are your friend).

also, if possible, trying to match the scenes to the lyrics in some way is always effective, so people can see a visual representation of the song they are hearing.
