I find it strange the sentiment is so strong.
Other than the video quality not being terribly high (doesn't really bother me terribly much), I don't see anything wrong with the service.
In fact I see a lot very right with it.
Again, it's a stage for everyone in the world to share themselves with others.
That's what we human beings do.
All the time. Everyday. Share ourselves with others. The more tools we have to do so, all the better, I think.
Actually, there is a lot more wrong with teh youtube than you think.
I agree with you on some points, but this loses any importance when related to AMVs
Perhaps this might enlighten you?

=P

me wrote:... you got the comments you deserved
It wasn´t meant to be mean. It´s just what you got for not knowing that this site offers videos. That´s it. I want to appologize because I didn´t made it clear.
Look.
I understand that a lot of us here aren't really all high and into the real life thing.
That's why Anime is such a wonderful escape.
Even so, we all have families and friends, even dogs and cats.
Uhm... I know friends that work on theire own films. I even played a role in one of them. It´s hard to capture emotions atmosphere etc with your camera. You might have to learn a lot new and than you have to combine it to high quality editing skills. I do now combining some live action with animes like I already did with a video. However the live action footage is out of DVDs and other sources. I doubt it that I´m able within a year to learn to captue equal videos.
AMTV would be just as powerful an experience
It is but I´m not sure if somebody wants to try it.
what better way to pay a tribute to something from real life you care about?
No. I wouldn´t be proud of it, because I would fail to give the moments the tribute they deserve. =/

I think you´re to optimistic for this idea, but I´m sure you could do such stuff yourself. You seam to have the will to do it.
Yes.
The quality is really quite mediocre, but, expected for streaming.
No. It sucks ass. Do you know stage6.com?
What else can an artist want?
Why else does an artist (a real artist) create?
I like more praise from people who are into the whole materia. For me: I create for myself. To fullfill my ideas and to finaly see videos I want to see. Honor and nice comments are just bonus. Yes the site is good for getting comments, but they often don´t have a big value you know?

@Pas1990:
You´re damn mean here. Why are you so aggressive to him? David Julio Wang brings good points for a discussion and doesn´t just scream around: "This site sucks! Delete my account!" He really doesn´t. He just defends YouTube, a site he really likes. There is nothing wrong about it. I even thought about donating! =/

@All:
Stop spaming. I want to move on with an interessting discussion =/ meh .-.

Anime combined with live action:

Hi Pas1990.
Thank ye kindly sah for ignoring my post =w=

And to think, in the time I spent writing it, I could have been doing nothing at all.

Neutral
I didn't ignore you my friend.
I went to work.
Look, I'll be blunt. I don't care how many noobs on noobtube give you shit like "perfect, 5/5"

My ego is big enough as it is, and I would rather have the validated opinions of members here, than a 2 second comment from some idiot on noobtube.

Look man, to put it simple, quality over quantity. I actually remember the AMVs I downloaded here, whereas for one on noobtube I will forget after a day.
Fair enough my friend that is why we human beings create different tools for different functions and to suit different people.

a-m-v.org is a site for the dedicated AMV artists, whereas Youtube is more a launching pad for new artists.

I know, you would most likely say something like,
"You mean, for bad artists!"
Well, my friend.
Everybody has to start somewhere.

And, speaking for myself, starting on Youtube, seems to be a very nice way to get one's first exposure to the critiques of AMV's.

After all, as you rightly point out, the people who are watching the AMV's are noobs too, and they are duly impressed just by the concept of making a music video using Anime scenes.

Simply put, not everyone is a seasoned AMV conossiuer when they are born.
It's an acquired knowledge, like all knowledge.

When you're first starting out it's nice to hear fellow noobs say,
"Wow man! That was great! How'd you do that!"

It's like the training sequence in any Anime.
The wise and experienced guys are role models to the guys who are still learning, and the guys who are still learning, need their fellow beginners to help boost their confidence and support each other.
They'll be the wise guys in the near future, but, the growth is necessary.

Everyone should have a place where they feel welcome to grow.

Yeah, see now he's probably crying himself to bed because of that. I would personally take that as an insult, as noobtube is notorious for crappy, shitty, worthless AMVs.
I don't know my friend.

All the AMV's I saw at Anime Evolution were available to watch on Youtube too and they were the famous ones that win the awards.

Anime Evolution is a big con (last year 4000 plus people), so I would say that the AMV's watched there are the ones everyone is familiar with and loves.

I'm not the person to talk to about this though.
As I mentioned before, I don't watch copious amounts of AMV's.

If you want to see for yourself if Anime Evolution is a big con with an excellent AMV reputation, check out the site :

http://www.animeevolution.com

I don't know AMV's really, but I do know every one I watched at Anime Evolution, I could see on youtube.

So, youtube might have many videos made by new AMV artists, but, it certainly does have all the excellent videos as well.
Truly beautiful, brought tears to my eyes. I guess all us a-m-v.org members are just losers who cannot contribute to society. Seriously, we don't need to hear someone preaching to us how great and noble noobtube is.
Goodness no my friend.

You guys are great!

Creating works of art I love to watch and move me deeply.
I said it before, and I'll say it again, I seek out experiences which move me.

When I discovered AMV's thanks to my friend Marc, I was deeply grateful.

This site is a diamond mine and you guys and girls are all diamond cutters creating works for your fellow human beings to marvel at.

...oh.

I should mention.
I'm a Sagittarius.
Boundless optimism.
High energy.
Lots of opinions.
Fire sign.
I know you might not care one whit what sign I am, but, I think it's a helpful little tidbit to understand,
"What the bleep is up with this guy and all his cheeriness?"
It's in the stars my friend.

Youtube is something I think is great.

We're having a conversation.
You say stuff.
I say stuff.
We all say stuff.
Some we like.
Some we don't.
We could just tell each other something like,
"Only tell me what I want to hear."
But, that's taking a step backwards in human evolution isn't it.
We're trying to be more free and understanding, not less, I think.
Communication is the key to humanity solving our problems.

I know.
More preaching.
But what are you doing when you create an AMV.
It's communication, pure and simple.
Don't worry mate, I'll buy you some glasses.
Thank you my friend.
Already wear glasses. 8-)

If I can get Winamp to work, I will gladly enjoy some higher quality AMV's and be awed at the difference.

Actually, I'm already familiar with the difference since I saw many AMV's at Anime Evolution.
On the big screen with the huge speakers and a ton of people clapping and cheering, or being very quiet with a sadness hanging in the air, the experience is...a memorable one.

----

I'm sorry I don't have time to comment on more posts at the moment.

I am thrilled that the discussion has been so active.

I don't always agree with everything everyone says, but, that's human, and I appreciate the human communication, regardless.

David.
