looking for a particular AMV
Hey AMV people, I was wondering if I could get some advice.
I'm doing a small, private class-presentation about how Japanese culture is represented in anime, and I thought it would be fun to show the class an AMV at the end... anyone know of any AMVs that might be appropriate?

JaddziaDax: traditional, modern, it's all good. All i'm trying to do with the presentation is show that there is more to anime than simply being entertainment for kids, as cartoons are often perceived to be in the west.
JudgeHolden: lol...not much faith in the community I take it? But no, believe it or not, this is for a university class..albeit a university in Japan...but it could very well be a grade school class
Anyway, right now Tyler's Jihaku is at the top of my list.

Id suggest something with Samauri X then... or another "realistic" looking anime (if youre going to do a single anime video)

That's cool video, however it does not serve your purpose for it is more of a representation of western musical culture and not Japanese culture in Mass Media. You may want to look at the anime themselves, for they will tell you allot more. In other words, I would not use an Afro Samurai video to show how African American culture is reflected in mass media for the video is a Derivative of the anime and not a direct reflection of the pop culture surrounding it. Now if you where doing a piece on how fan works reflect Western perceptions of Japanese Pop culture, then you would be on track.sethimayne wrote:

Plus, videos do not show how anime is "Not kids stuff". To do this, once again you have to talk about the anime directly and not indirectly.
