I ask you: Why?
I have just read that The Simpsons is going to be renewed until 2005. What is so funny to you people that you could possibly be enjoying about that show? The constant celebrity guests? The cheap puns, and jokes? The theme of the episodes? Or do you just watch it because you've thought it was good in the past?
I'm not flaming any of you here, but I'm just asking you... Why do you like the show enough to keep it going for so long? The way I see it, it is an old horse, and it needs to get a bullet through it's head. But this is just my opinion, and I need some honest responses as to why do you think it's good enough to continue? (If you need my reasons for dislike, I'll post them here. But I don't think that is necessary.)

Any reasons you get here aren't going to be why Fox renewed it. They did it because they have very weak shows and the Simpsons is one of their strong anchor shows. Sunday night is their big ratings night....the rest of their crap is...ahem...reality tv.
I do watch it on occasion while I am eating my sunday night dinner. It's because there is nothing better on. But then it always gets turned at 8:30 because I can't.... absolutely can NOT stand King of the Hill. The simpsons has been getting stale for years (in case anyone isn't aware, Matt Groening left it years ago) but at least the characters are still familiar enough for me to enjoy it on a going home kind of basis. It has been on for 13 years now. Then again, you only miss home until you get back. Then you remember why you left in the first place
..yeah, it's kinda like that

One of the things that shocked me was that in the article, it said it has the highest ratings of any sunday night show. I'm not sure if it said of all time, but I'll have to check. (It was on Yahoo.)
Some guy at something-awful actually made an episode guide, and "pinpointed" where he thought it went bad. Keep in mind this is not Lowtax, or even the "Guiest editor". It's one of the new people they probably got off the forum. It's a pretty accurate episode guide, if you want to look it up.

Oh, I have a whole collection of the best stuff I've found on there. So as to not hijack the thread though I won't post it. Maybe I'll start a thread for great ones.
The Simpsons....I think the episode Ralph Wigum had to team up with Bart as a friend showed how hard they were scraping the barrel.
I have the first 2 dvd sets they have released and it has a re-view value none of the recent seasons can come close to.
