Gangs of New York...

Post by KungPaoChicken » Mon Dec 30, 2002 4:35 pm

...has got to be the lamest piece of trash I've seen in my entire life. Picture books have more plot than this incoherent, unfocused piece of crap. If you want to watch the movie, don't.

And it wasn't even about the acting. That was fine. Yes, even Jack, i mean, Leo DeCaprio acted well... save all of their horrible Irish accents. What sucks is that the movie is retarded, and has basically no point other than all that happened in 1860s New York didn't really matter, much like how the 3 hours of the movie didn't matter.

Basically, there was no point to the movie. It got a rating of R only because of excessive blood (which were no more than just, hey, look at all the blood!), pointless, sagging nudity, and swear words. Wait, was the F word even used in the 1860s? Somehow, I don't think so.

Gangs of New York is a helluva roller coaster ride to eternal sleep. I didn't walk out just for the sake of the possibility of me missing any redeeming qualities of the film. There was none.

Don't watch it. Or watch it, so then you can complain come the Golden Globes or the Oscars, because you know I will be if this trivial junk of a "movie" wins any awards.

That was a pretty harsh review.

Gangs of New York got my silver star for realism and accurate portrail of the 1860's.
The acting was good and the story lacked all the glorious hollywood bullshit that has accompanied this year's sad attempts at meaningful cinematography.
It was a little dragging and long winded.....but I think it's a hit or miss movie. If you want BAM, WHACK, BOOOOM!!! /the end. This is NOT the movie for you.

Yes it was, that "F" word is actually an acronym. Prostitutes who were arrested in the nineteen century England were booked on the charge of 'Fornication Under Carnal Knowledge'. All that writing was tiresome so these ladies files were stamped F.U.C.K.

I thought fuck meant "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge". Makes better grammatical sense.

"This woman was arrested For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" - good

"This woman was arrested Fornication Under Carnal Knowledge" - not so good.
I'm out...

I heard somewhere that it was used in the middle ages. When a married couple wanted to get it on for the first time, they asked permission from their king who gave his blessing. It was defined Fornication Under Concent of the King. Or some shit like that.
