Japanimation or Anime?
We prefer that people use the word "Anime" over the word "Japanimation". The word Japanimation is still used by video and catalogue stores, but we would like to eventually see most of these change to the word "Anime" as this later word has become generally accepted by both fans and media. While Japanimation is obviously an amalgamation of the word Japan and Animation, and no harm was intended in its initial use, it is too easy for the word to slide into being pronounced as "Jap-Animation". The word Jap is a racial slur, thus we ask folks to use the word anime. Anime is a better word to use anyway as it is the word the japanese use for "Animation." Thus, it only seems logical that an organization that promotes Japanese Animation would use the word its creators use.
Anyways, some Anime programs are cartoons, not all of them, but I would consider most programs designed for teen/pre-teen audiences to be anime cartoons. Out of their selected programs, I'd probably be willing to accept Dual as being classed as a cartoon. Lain, Betterman, Silent Mobius, and Crest of the Stars...eh...I'd rather they just call them animation or anime. But really, I more concerned about how they present them on TV in terms of editting, etc, then what they call them.
