Old news, but had to ask. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.
I remember when this movie first came out, there was a lot of criticism about it, and that it sucked and everything. But after watching it again, with a better perspective about the Final Fantasy's, it seemed to all come together in then FF kind of world. It just seemed to look like something you'd say, "That reminds me of Final Fantasy." With the more Fantasy kind of aspect. The main question about this thread is, what do you think about Final Fantast: The Spirits Within. Do you like it or not? And whether or not you think it follows the Final Fantasy kind of aspects.

Yuna Croft jumps from cliff to cliff using her double sticks to kill off monster hamsters and large whales at sea with the satanic powers of bedtime.
Final Fantasy officially sucked the enamel off of our asses after 7. Including the movie.

right....poor graphics
Anyway, the main reason I disliked the movie was because it strayed so much from what FF really is. The character development really lacked, especially for the "bad guy".
I personally feel they concentrated TOO much on the eye candy rather than the plot and what FF is to the FANS.[/code]

Let me clarify the graphics comment. They did a beutiful job of giving surfaces depth and overlayed textures quite well, but the poor movement of the characters and the choices of ambient lighting settings in many scenes made it look bad. They could have done so much better with the computing power that they had.

Yeah--the over-emphasized, almost exaggerated body movements were pretty distracting to me by the end (the bit before Steve Buscemi's character gets waxed especially).
But there were moments, certainly... when I saw a couple of scenes by walking into a room where it was playing, it took me a minute to realize that it was all CG, and not live-action.

The only thing i hate is that it is so much unlike all the other Final Fantasys. You do have to give them kudos though its best all CG movie out there. Its real hard to perfectly animate a human.
Madness and genius are seperated only by degrees of success.
I don't think necessity is the mother of invention - invention, in my opinion, arises directly from idleness, possibly from laziness. To save oneself trouble.

That movie gave me gas. I still have gas.
Gas...
People kept telling me that I'd like the movie. I only like FF7, but not by too much, and absolutely HATE the rest of them. Especially FF10. God, I spent hours laughing my ass off at how terrible it was when I first saw it. Anyways, the movie was nothing at all like the games. Actually, two things WERE constant. Cid, and a "life and death and earthly spirit rules you and your cousin's girlfriend" theme. I thought the movie was worse than the games and the graphics didn't get to me. The movie is crap from soup to nuts.
Nuts...
