Post by The Non-Professional » Wed Nov 20, 2002 8:54 pm

When the Anime Network is released does this mean Toonami will die, right now adult swim and toonami is the only TV sorce of anime when the anime network is release people wont need to watch toonami anyone since all the "good" anime is on the anime network. what do the rest of you all think? :?: :!:

I'm pretty sure since they own DBZ as well as teh Gundam licenses to air on TV that Toonami will keep on going...the funny thing is that I was watching TV a few days ago and Toonami is airing a campaing saying how great they are. That they are teh first and foremost in anime who brings you DBZ and Gundam to quote them. I think CN is starting to worry about this Anime Network as a threat to their own lineup.

No, in fact this is what they were refering to over the past week or two. You know, saying that they were the first and that as new stations start showing anime they will continue to show their stuff and break out with some new stuff. Hell, they brought us Cowboy Bebop so they know what to show :)

I thought sci-fi was first :P Is anime network a pay channel, or like cartoon network which means heavy editing, and perhaps aimed at kids.

The Anime Network is gonna be on basic Cable But i dont think there gonna edit any anime since its its own netowrk the cencores wont be all stuck up and ass wipes, plus i think toonamis gonna have a hard time getting ratings when they can only show edited animes and selective animes when the anime network is gonna show a more wipe and better varity of anime, so i think toonami will start having problems, i my self like toonami and hopes nothing happens to it. if it werent for toonami lots o people would be the otakus they were today

I hate to be jbone here, but periods are fun. try using them. Secondly.. I don't think toonami is going to suffer as much as you seem to think. You forget their current target audience is 10-16 year old males.. and this is the group that gets its tv privlages monitored by parents. Which means censorship.

IF (and this is a huge if) This 'Anime Network' shows uncut anime, I don't think many parents are going to be keen on allowing their children to watch it. Just remember that they must conform to TV rating standards as well as everyone else. It's not only CN's policy to restrict whats shown, they have guidelines too.

and if anything CN has their own line-up of shows to fall back on, like adult swim used to be nothing but anime where they could say ass, eventually it became overun by non-anime but funny shows... perhaps they'll start showing more Space ghost, brak show and (please) sealab 2021 to fill up space which used to belong to anime...
So this anime channel will be on basic cable and will be uncensored? I hope they start by finishing some of the shows CN didn't... Big O for example...

ACtually they did finish showing Big O, Big O only had thirteen episodes and ended where they left it. The show was cancelled early in in Japan due to general distaste for the program. Renwed interest in america got the producers enough money to make the sequel Big O 2 which should appear on CN early next year. so really it's thanks to CN that you will get to see an end to The Big O
