2.1 or 5.1 speakers and any recommended sets?

I've been looking to buy new speakers for the computer and am debating whether to
A. get good 2.1 speakers or
B. get decent 5.1 speakers + a new sound card
As i watch amvs more often than 5.1 movies the .1 is really the most important part, which is why I'm debating 2 channel or 5. Suggestions?
On that note, any of you have a favorite/especially good set of either kind?

I think that unless you plan on watching a stack of DVDs in the same room as your computer, then 2.1 speakers would be the way to go.

Isn't this a Audio Help question and not a HOT DEAL.

HOT DEAL!!! Radical wants some speakers... Where is the deal in that?

2.1 is just fine for my DVD exeperience.. How are you planning on getting surround? You playing speakers behind your chair or something ??? Trip over them when you get up to take a leak, doesn't sound like fun to me.

I know there are no XRT543 speakers btw it was just for example.

The thing is with purchase questions people will ask "what type of video player should I pay for?" " what type of video editing software should I buy?" "where is the cheapest gas in new york" <----well actually that one has some merit to it :p

Okay well if you're going to listen to alot of 5.1 movies then get a 5.1 setup. Anime though is usually from TV source, stereo two channels, so I doubt you'd see a ton of improvement w/5.1

A good set of 2.1 would probably whoop the ass of a crappy 5.1.

I have some Labtec Pulse 424s. They're pretty nice for $40.

I think I'll go 2.1, that would leave plenty for a new hdd or a dvd-r
just hope my soundcard is good enuff as is :/
