Are FireWire webcams possible....?
Hello all. I have no webcam, but I do have a camera that connects to computer via firewire. Does anyone know of software that will compress the video on the fly and allow me to use the camera as a webcam? Thanks a lot!

OK, the thing on youre camera is not firewire, not exactly anyway. Its called DV(digital video I guess). Its basically firewire for the specific purpose of video input/output. My video card has it. I think a standard firewire port will work with DV, but a DV port, like on my video card, wont work has a normal firewire port, it will only accept DV data. Long story short, if you have a port somewhere on your computer that it will fit into, you can make a webcam with it. What software you need and where you can get it, I dont know. But I do know that it exist.
