GFX Con Official Rules and Entry Confomations

Mkay, now that we've got enough interest, here's the official rules for the GFX con this time around, sorted by catagory:

Completely Hand Drawn:
1: You may use any medium to produce your entry (pencil, pen, charcoal, figerpaint, whatever). As long is its done by your hands.
2: You may ONLY use a computer for SCANNING and RESIZING, abosolutely NOTHING more. No erasing, no filtering, no coloring, no nothing.
3: Try to get your image down to smaller than 1024x768, if you cannot, then simply post a text link to your entry so as to avoid horrid forum stretching.
4: Your work must be done completely by you. You may submit fanart, but the image must be original, NO TRACING. Copying is acceptible but not recommended. If you do copy an image completely, then you MUST scan and post the image you copied from WITH your entry.
5: You may submit in black and white or color, your choice.
6: You image may not be larger than 1 meg, if you're having trouble abiding by this rule, PM me and I'll give you a few pointers on image compression.

Completely Computer:
1: You may use any program you have (Photoshop, Psp7, POVray, 3dstudiomax, Bryce, Maya, etc), so long as it doen't produce the picture for you.
2: You may NOT produce ANY part of the image on any medium outside of your computer. No hand drawing anything.
3: Try to get your image down to smaller than 1024x768, if you cannot, then simply post a text link to your entry so as to avoid horrid forum stretching.
4: Your work must be done completely by you. NO RIPPING IMAGES. You may use pictures of anime/game characters, etc. But the work must be at least 50% original. If you're unsure as to whether or not your image is acceptable, PM me.
5: You image may not be larger than 1 meg, if you're having trouble abiding by this rule, PM me and I'll give you a few pointers on image compression.
6: NO ANIMATED ENTRIES. I'm sorry, but this is all about still pics.

Mix of Both:
1: You can basically use anything you could possibly imagine to produce your image so long as it ends up at least 70% original.
2: Try to get your image down to smaller than 1024x768, if you cannot, then simply post a text link to your entry so as to avoid horrid forum stretching.
3: Some of your entry MUST be hand done, some of it also MUST be done on a computer.
4: You image may not be larger than 1 meg, if you're having trouble abiding by this rule, PM me and I'll give you a few pointers on image compression.
5: Once again, NO ANIMATED ENTRIES. I'm sorry, but this is all about still pics.

And thats basically that. Please note that these rules are subject to change at just about any time (although they probably won't be). If anyone has any complaints/concerns then please voice them in this thread.

I'm going to set up the brackets by randomly pairing everyone through hat drawings. The actual threads will be make in General off topic one week from Saturday, after which contestants will have four days to post their entries. So get crackin now. The voting is open to everyone excluding those involved in the current match (so as to avoid self voting and whatnot). Each round until the finals will be decided by who reaches 10 votes first after both entries are hosted. The finals will be first to 20.

Each person will submit one entry for each catagory that they are participating in. That entry will be their only entry until the finals, at which point, if they make it, they will have the option of changing to a new entry of keeping their original entry.

These are pretty final, Computer and mixed are completely closed. If anyone else wants to enter hand drawn I'm willing to take up to four more people as long as they come in sets of two (for pairing purposes). If you signed up and your name isn't up there then post here. If you would like your name removed from any of the lists, post here. If you see your name, confirm your entry anyways. Just post and let me know you're still in. Anyways, tis late, I must be sleeping, night.

Hmm... So, it's still about a week away?

See, I'm still wondering about the Mixed entry - I'd like to do it, but it might come out that I'll run out of time and never actually get to it... Keeping my fingers crossed that something good will indeed happen.

But I confirm the drawn one, yea. Either something good will hit me in the head and I'll draw a new pic, or reach in the depths of my archive and pull out something that's at least half-decent...

I am on full force for fully computer.

If someone wants to do hand drawn I will enter it to keep the numbers even.

Jon, if its alright with you I may also throw you back into mixed if Otohiko ends up not finishing in time.

P.S. I may wind up turning in my drawings by taking a digital picture of them.

It's actually not terrible, I've done that before. They don't come out well, but they're definitely viewable. Just take a few pics and see which ones come out the clearest, then go Photo/Paint-shop them. It's been done....

As for my entry - I'll let you people know by next week. If something starts coming together on the weekend, I'm a go, if not - I'll pass it on.
