Timeline

Post by Lone Wolf » Sun Nov 16, 2003 2:56 pm

I can't wait for this movie to come out. I loved the book. Michael Crichton is definately one of the best authors of today. I have managed to get three of my teachers and several of my friends to read it, and they all like it. I'll just have to see how different the movie is from the book. :D

I am sorry to break it to you but when you see the movie you are gonna feel like they took the book out to the shed, and sodomized it, as is the truth with all books that become movies.

That's not always the case. For example, the movie Mister Roberts(1955) was far superior to the book. The movie did a much better job setting up the personal conflicts, the setting, and portraying the morale on "the Bucket".

I heard the book on tape of "Timeline". It was pretty good, but I would've enjoyed it more if I wasn't sick with food poisoning over the Siskiyous.

On a side note, I heard the book on tape after I caught a few episodes of Eva, and I was just curious if anyone else thought the main guy in charge sounded like Gendo. If they did a good job casting Timeline, I'd like to see that guy in the live-action Eva film.

I hate to say it, but every Michael Crichton movie I've seen, with the possible exception of Jurassic Park was awful! Sphere comes readily to mind. The book was pretty good, whereas the movie made me want to kill myself. never cared for The Andromeda Strain, either. Bad acting killed that one, IMO. There's more, but I'd rather not remember them right now.

I will say that the movies based off of Crichton's books aren't as horrible as those based off of the horror novels of Stephen King. *shudder*

I liked Andromeda Strain, but everything else just sucked, especially that piece of crap, Sphere. The only Jurassic Park movie that was any good was the third one. Michael Crichton, I bet, is not even a good writer. Not that I'd know, I haven't bothered reading him. He'll probably be as remembered in 2103 as the victorian poet Martin Tupper is remembered now. Same deal with Danielle Steel, the guy who wrote the Hannibal Lecter novels, Tom Clancy, etc.

"But just who is Martin Tupper? I've never heard of that guy."

Exactly.
