Sword-Fighting

Who likes to sword fight. I dont mean like classes but self taught stuff. Me and 5 friends have formed a group who fights with swords.

Of course we use wooden ones cause we'd kill eachother with regular real swords though we have real ones (I have 2 katanas upstairs and one of Gloins battle axes from Lort of the Rings). Anyways, Im currently constructing a new sword which I will use in my friends new movie.

Im making a wooden zanbattou. Mine will be exactly 8 feet in length and wiegh bout 15 pounds but thats a esitmation. And yes I can wield this. My fighting style revolves around huge weapons. I already wield a 10 pound 5 foot (wooden) broad sword and it's fairly easy.

Once I get it I may take pictures of it. Im painting the blade black and having rune symbols on it (or elvish...cant choose)

Anyone else have a certain "style" of sword fighting?

I have this unbeatable style where I drop my sword, run up to the person, and pound on them with my fists.

Wow thats very similar to my style, the only difference is after I drop the sword I pick up a gun and shoot the opponent in his head. ISNT TECHNOLOGY GREAT

I dont like sword fighting, it leaves you too open in close combat. The only real weapon I prefer to use is the sai, since it has defensive and offensive abilities. Swords can get damaged easily and are very hard to use in ACTUAL combat, this includes not horsing around and trying to make your sword play like "Kenshin's". I really hope people dont think that what they do in the Kenshin tv series is what would really happen in a sword battle. *shrugs*

The only sword I have actually ever used and tried to perfect is the "Nodachi", which is very hard to wield in actual combat.
