Design Culture: Mecha in Anime

You've seen it all: giant robots, battle tops, libraries and even Go -
elements exclusive to Japanese animation and no other. Why are they there? Is design more prevalent in Japanese culture than others?

Connecting Characteristics and Identity

Actions may define the character, but a look at most any Anime will
demonstrate that the characters often look the part as well. Are there
any patterns to how a character's appearance indicates his/her identity?

The Conflict of Man and Nature in Apocalyptic Anime

From Nausicaa to X, a recurring element in apocalyptic anime is the
conflict of society and nature. What are the possible origins of this
principle, and why do we continue to see it?
