Why Do People Play Quake, Etc?

It's interesting.

Why do people play games such as Quake which are plot-thin? Or watching plotless anime, porn, etc?

Is it just that some people are into viewing images with lots of violence, blood and gore? Or is it something else?

Seriously: Why do you make programming jokes? Because you enjoy them. They make you laugh.

Why do you watch anime? Because you enjoy it.

Why do people play action games? Because they enjoy them.

Why are you so intent on tarring people because of what they like? Is it really any business of yours, first of all, and second of all, who are you to say that everything that everybody likes must be Deep and Important? Are your little jokes Deep and Important? I'd say not. They just make you laugh. Should we get to insinuate that you are stupid because they are not Deep and Important, as you did with players of action games?

Your logic isn't holding up, now, is it. Fancy that.

If people did only the stuff that's deep and important, most would probably commit suicide.

Everyone's got leisure-oriented hobbies, and everyone determines their own means of leisure. A lot of anime I like is not because it's super-deep (though some is), but because it has funky stuff (like girls and slapstick humor) which is prime material for stress relief. I might boot up a shooter on occasion to shoot some people's heads off.

Also, to note - I don't neccesarily go to this forum for deep discussions, either. I will join one if it's in progress and contribute what I can, but on the whole - 1) I like to fool around on the boards 2) I have other boards I go to for that

So really, relax. You might not get it, but heck - that's subjective opinion for ya. Leave people to determine their own tastes.

Games like quake and other mass online fps are enjoyed mostly, to me at least, the team work based involvment (if you can get the people to work as a team), and in the end you end up shoot up lots of folks.
