Unfortunately, I don't have health insurancec, so I'm gonna have to find out how much it costs and pocket the bill myself somehow.

For those who would actually read the page, I have a stage 3 infected toenail on my left big toe, inside. Caused from obesity, pressure, constant walking at work, DDR, and a chronic ingrown lateral nail.

I wish I knew how mucch this operation costed or what would happen to me if the infection spreads to my foot/leg. None of the pages I found described the consequences of the infection spreading to foot/leg/bloodstream. They mearly mention the possibility of it if gone untreated.

Hopefully it can't kill me or ause me to need some sort of amputation. I'd hate to have to lose my damn toe.

Kinda scary.

now if only you lived in canada ... you'd be able to get OHIP to cover all or some taht bill ... but man ,,, to need surgery that must be one bad toe nail ... good luck with the funds.

If an infection spreads to your bloodstream, it will infect your vital organs, and the only way to possibly control it (with no gaurantee of sucess) is to spend a couple hours in a machine that cycles all of your blood out of your body and replaces it with fresh blood. Of course, you'de have to do this multiple times. And even with this, there is the chance that it will kill you. An infection, after all, is like a poison to the body. If left untreated and the infection spreads up your leg, then yes you will have to have the infected area amputated. An infection would kill all the tissue and muscle in that area, so your leg would be technically dead.

Get it treated, worry about the costs later. The longer you wait, the more you risk your life, and a higher medical bill.

Holy beep. So much work to (translation) yank out a piece of ingrown toenail, zap an infection and suppress a reaction.And it creates a new nail fold.

Good luck on your procedure.

And good luck on getting together the copay.

One of my friends had an ingrown toenail. It cost him $130 to get it cut off.
