What's Your Computer's Name
It's amazing what some people will name their computers. In fact, at the Library, we even have all the dumb terminals assigned names!
What's your computer named?
Mine:
The names stored in the registry are:
"Iria" "Temjin" "Raiden" "Zaku" "Niobe"
These are from forieng language, mythology, etc.
Question:
I'm still trying to figure out how to redirect names on a NAT server to a different portbase without binding to another IP. I usually set up several aliases and bind services to IPs seclectively, but I'd like to have, say, http://anime.mechacker.com bind to an IIS Virtual Directory. I will have to grab another IP or another port... send alias "anime:80" to "zaku:7890". Also created the impression on a secure system.
I don't want a firewall. If Windows can't do it, Linux definitely doesn't.
The Dot Net Gundam boxes have code built in that let you send certain names to Active Directory without having to use the computer's domain. What's wierd? They can't insert the code into Windows because it exceeds the entry point sizes... it's rumoured some of the replacement code is GPL crap. Which means it has to be open sourced. Yucky GPL.

it used to be eleanor .. bu then i reread LOTR and i noticed that it was only spelled with one E ... so, no it has nothing to do with the late former presidents wife. My mother keeps telling me i spelled it wrong ... meh ... the fuck do i care.danielwang wrote:And Eleanor = Eleanor J Roosevelt.
