I might not be keen on the republican "agenda," but ah, what a funny little article.
I especially liked the last portion: "How Smart?"

Actually....I can kinda relate. I was brought up believing that the elected president is still the president even if you don't agree with his policies. So it always pisses me off when I hear trash talk about the current republican president we have today when I was expected to respect the democratic one from the term before. "Not my president"....it makes me laugh. Bush is as much the US's president now as Clinton was four years ago. And if he isn't your president, I'd really like to know who is and what country you are from. These days when I say that I would have voted for Bush had I been 18 at the time of the election, it makes people (various online forum-goers mostly) turn head and take a shot at me. (You want to see idiots? You should have been at the message boards at www.yahoo.com . Just go to any article related to war and go to the corresponding message board. It made me ashamed of humanity. I was even ashamed of the ones I would normally agree with. So...the bigotry does come from both sides. I'll admit that.) I was called a warmongering "bitch" just because I said I would have voted republicam had I the oppertunity. Maybe not so much before "The Day" if you know what I mean...but definatly recently with the state of current affairs. I was called a warmongering "bitch" by a poster on the Yahoo boards just because I said I would have voted republican had I the oppertunity. Some people forget that there is more to a running platform then just foriegn affairs alone. But the last thing I need is to spark debate. That's not the purpose of this post. It's just some personal thoughts.

When the lie is so big...
And the pockets so deep...
THE REPUBLICAN TRICK...
Will be played out again...
People please tell me when...
We'll get rid of these men...

Actually, very good post Cyanna. I have been behind certain politicians in my life whom I less than support (understatement!). But, politics are politics. Regardless, I think most of the votes (at least in the pre-2001 world) were indeed due to domestic policies rather than foreign. I still think the Republicans have a poor domestic policy, too, but... well, I'm not even an American to begin with
I've never even been there, so I guess I shouldn't be talking hehe

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I think I lose faith in humanity when so many people voted for Bush. Gore wasn't much better, but goshes.
I think people can actually say "He's not my president" because he truely isn't. The majority did not vote for him. A bunch of old farts in Florida tipped the scales his way.
Anyways, either one of them would have been bad but lets see Bush has so far helped:
*Nose dive the economy even further
*Lowered taxes for the rich
*Created record deficit spending
*Started a war with out much cause or need
*Lied to get people to goto war
*Vice President Cheney has started a new form of business model. It's called getting into office and then aiding the corporation you were CEO of get big contracts for going to war as stated above.
The economy is not entirely Bush's fault. People should have seen the dot com era was going to burst. Money for nothing was not going to make more money it's simple economics there.
I don't know of one good thing Bush has done so far. I don't know why you would proudly support this monkey of a president. He's horrible. The worst president we've ever had. He wasted millions of dollars flying onto a aircraft carrier for a PR stunt. They didn't investigate exactly how much that cost and if it was a inapproriate use of funds. There was no reason for Bush to go onto the aircraft carrier. If he really wanted to he should have reported for National Guard duty when he was called for it. They sure investigated someone getting a blowjob to the tune of 44million. ^_^ Well spent money.
Ugh.

Well...*shuffles feet nervously because she's about to say something that no one likes to hear about*
I do still have my reasons to vote for the guy. And it's a topic not covered by Klinky's post. I'm openly against abortion (GASP! I said the "A-word!) and so is Bush. Therefore I STILL would have voted for "that monkey" anyway.
I could not have voted Gore without going against something that I passionatly feel about. It may seem like a stupid reason for the rest of the world but for me it's my BIG reason (and the ones who think my reasonings are stupid probably don't agree with them in the first place). I'm sorry if I offend you. Just....see me the same way you'd see a die-hard environmentalist.
And don't confuse me with the ones who support bombing clinics and scream obscenities at pro-choice women. I find that behavior deplorable as well and I feel it does nothing to aid my cause. I'm more into truthful education then radical action and propaganda. I don't expect it to end at once. I hope that it just ends someday. But every time I reveal my opinions on the topic, people are quick to call me a freaking hypocrite (how can I be pro-life if I support bombings...which I don't) and...get this! A "religious extremist."
Great...so now I'm automatically lumped in with the 9-11 terrorists. Am I that horrible of a person?
Bush may not have done as much to support to my cause as much as I would have liked...but he's done a lot more then Gore ever would have.
And THAT's why I would have voted republican. I just feel that it's a very worthy cause to support. You may disagree of course. You may call me names, flame and prejudge me....I'm used to it (and I'm not even a minority). But isn't that what the article mentioned in the first post was about anyway?

Yes. I can see how being anit-abortion could be construed as a good enough reason to vote for a president who is:
A.) An idiot
B.) A warmonger
C.) An idiot
D.) Believes that the rights of americans should be limited
E.) An idiot
The point is, being anti-abortion is not a good reason to vote republican. I'm sure there are third parties that are anti-abortion too. You could vote for them instead. The reason we keep getting these horrible presidents is because when people go to the polls they feel they have a choice between republican and democrat, which is absolutely not the case. There are a bunch of other parties people can vote for if they would only realise this and take the initiative to vote for them.

*sigh* Why am I not surprised...
However at the time of the polls a third party candidate doesn't seem very likely to get elected. May as well vote for the most popular supporter of your cause...and Bush was the most popular supporter of my cause at the time and you obviously hate that thought.
And how was any voter supposed to forsee 9-11 happening (which happened almost a year after the election), from which stemmed the two reasons from your list other then the obvious fact that you consider him an idiot?
