The Lycos Top 5

Post by Chaos Angel » Mon Mar 31, 2003 1:56 am

While uploading some images to my Angelfire account, I happened to see the top 5 searches performed on Lycos as of 12:50 AM, Mon. Mar 31. They are as follows.

1. NCAA Basketball
2. War on Iraq
3. The IRS
4. Saddam Hussein
5. Dragonball

??

So, apparently, we care about basketball more than the war, place the IRS with the war and Saddam on our worries for the day, and somehow still find time to worry about how our old friends Goku and Co. will drag out yet another fight to save the planet (because it's not old by this point, not at all!!)

I think I read that sex and porn related search terms are not counted in the publicly published Lycos statistics.

Maybe that's true for lycos... but I read somewhere else a while ago, that Dragon Ball was #1 and sex came in third or so... very impressive.

That happend about 1 year ago on Goggle Germany Top 10 when Dragon Ball Z was aired for the first time on national TV.
Don't know if that happend somewhere else, too. But it lasted only for a week or so...

I remember a few years ago, the most popular search on every search engine (including eBay believe it or not) was the one thing that most peoploe hate now, Pokémon... 5 years ago, it was cool, now, it's like a "PIKACHU NEEDS TO DIE, EVERYONE ELSE DESERVES TO BE RAPED!!!" type thing... #1 on my search engine tho is anime because I want destop themes and such...
