it's not backlit, it's frontlit....(sigh) I don't know if it's worth it if it's front lit
It's actually more along the lines of a blending of the two, "Sidelit" if you will. It doest have the glare of frontlit floodlights, but doesnt also have the massive battery consumption of a backlit device.

then you say gamegear rules :?
the only thing gamegear had was a backlight and craptastic battery life
I said the backlight wasn't much of a contribution to the new GBA, not that it's not a good thing, just not reason enough to buy a new one. I don't see how I contradicted myself. The Gamegear does rule! Even if I do have to play mine plugged into the wall! :P
Also consier how old the game gear was, it's battery life was actually quite good considering what it did, the components today are much more energy efficient so it's easier to make batteries last longer. My gamegear is currently underappreciated and left gathering dust though, so hard to find good games for it now.

all this talk of batteries boggles my mind.

this GBA comes with a rechargeable Li-Ion battery pack.

RECHARGABLE.

why is everyone's panties getting bunched up?

ok, there's this big pain in the ass called "Recharging the damn thing" .... then the batteries degredation point goes to where you cant even play it for 1 and a half hours before it shits out on you, even though it says it has a full charge.

They say it should last 3 years.

Stop complaining. You wanted something GOOD to light up the screen, so now you have it. You wanted to know about battery conservasion, and this is the best they can come up with.

I think there's an even bigger pain in the ass thing called "buying new batteries".

Proper use of a rechargable battery notwithstanding, I would much rather purchase a new battery every 3 years than every 3 weeks.
