Did you know Ohio has mountains, plains, gorges where the glacier stopped, swamps and even beaches?? :pJace Tsunami wrote:Texas is not an ideal place for everyone John.
California has EVERYTHING. You could be living in cali with the exact same conditions you have now.
There is no variety in texas, no where to go to if you don't like it, and I fucking hate it.
In cali I can drive for less than an hour and be in a completley different enviroment.

There are a lot of differences between Ohio and California. But land variation is not one of them. If Ohio extended as far down as California, we'd have much more variation as well.
But anyway, Cleveland isn't the biggest city in Ohio, Columbus is. Now, Cleveland has a more intense inner city scene than Columbus but it's smaller. Columbus has a huge freaking amount of suburbs as well. And idiots.
A little info you never needed or cared to know; Easton town center was supposed to bigger than the Mall of America. Instead, it's Columbus' elitist playground designed by Victoria's Secret owner Lex Wexner...who by the way lives in Ohio. The snobs say it's just like Disney Land
I can vouch that it's pretty lame. It does have a Gameworks though.
But Ohio has one thing no other state has, (besides an ungodly basket building) the best roller coaster park. Who by the way, owns Knott's Berry Farm...I'm sure you know where that is.
Where were we? Oh yeah...recall Bob Taft!!

-We DONT have rolling black outs
-Our power cost less
-we are not full of a bunch of freaken librals
-Our school system is not as over crowed (mess up yes but not over croweded
-Our state is not bankrupt and has never been in debt
-When working in texas you make a good admont of money (not as much as californal) but in Texas it cost a lot less and the diffence in the bettween what people in californal make is less than the diffence in the cost of living so basicly you Texas you have more spending money

I have nothing at all against Texas but claims like those....I just couldn't resist. Since I assumed he was comparing Texas and California, I left the other states out of this...other states may compare better than California but...anyway
Texas is seeing falling electric costs because you had a former monopoly. You now have what is called and REP, retail electric providers, like a lot of other states are getting. That means customers have a choice, rates become more competitive. California is currently getting some new cooperatives which will help their monopoly problem.
California's recall was established during the gold mining era to oust a truly corrupt govenor. It was an interesting and somewhat unique power that could be given to the people to help their state be governed the way they feel it should. Increasing democratic policies are usually a good thing and putting a recall process in the books gives more power to the people... However, this recall was started by a republican politician who collected signatures from people who had just re-elected the man and more than likely have no interest or knowledge about their state budget other than there is one.
Umm...your state is better because it's bigger? Aside from the ..ahem..."compensation" side of that kind of arguement.....I don't see how imaginary lines drawn in the sand can make Texas better than California..... And even then, you're not first :p
Texas has a projected 2004 deficit of Close to 10 billion dollars but it's not suprising you were clueless as most texans are clueless about it.Our state is not bankrupt and has never been in debt

So you only addressed three issues? >_>
Yeah, I was going to point out the budget one if no one else had, but I was in class when I saw it. Budget deficits are a growing trend among the states
And, of course, people working for the state governments are going to lose their jobs, rather than having the senators and representatives take cuts in pay.
Also, I think a more accurate representation of the degree of debt is presented when you use
(budget deficit / total budget) = degree debt
