How do you know when you're suffering from lack of sleep? You become totally lost in what's going on! lol

Because of my little 2½ hours of sleep last night, I'm really tired tonight. To the point where I fell asleep during my own workout! I'm normally done by 10:00pm, but at 10:50pm, I was walking around, unable to remember why I was still in my workout clothes, and had not showered yet. I'm starting to freak myself out. -_-

I know I'm suffering from lack of sleep when I get a horrible amount of headaches and get partial amnesia. I get better by sleeping early in the night like around 9 PM or so. Usually at the next day, I feel refreshed.

Nikki of Yume, you have enchanted me once again.

Why can I not get the image of you out of my mind? I am but a fish in the river of your beauty, I strain against the current in utter futility...
If only I could gaze on you for more than a mere moment. Your face is like the sun and may only be viewed by us mortals for naught but brief glaces.

My odd habit of sleeping at night is the fact I go to sleep with my head UNDER my pillow. For some odd reason(I guess its the fact that I have a stiff pillow) I can't go to sleep without doing so. I suppose it goes back to the issue of "spinal alignment." In result, I also have the habit of having to go to sleep on my stomach.

Gaikotsu wrote:Ah yes, sleep. I seem to remember something about that. Unfortunately I haven't been able to sleep worth a damn for the past 3 weeks. It used to be where I couldn't get to sleep 'til 4 or 5am, but now even that's being optimistic. Tried Nyquil, but drugs/medicine have never really been very effective on me, and I need to take nearly 3 times the normal dose before I even begin to feel sleepy. True, that'll knock me out, but it keeps me out for about 12 hours or so. So I decided to just stick with the insomnia, besides having that much Nyquil in one's system on a regular basis can't be healthy.

As for positions, I usually sleep in my bed, lying on my side, wrapped in blankets. When I can sleep, that is.
You really should consult a doctor. Insomnia is a serious hazard to your health, not to mention your sense of well-being.

though my sleep schedule has been a bit wacky recently too. a few days ago i slept from 11pm-1am and then i had to do homework before class. then i slept like 3pm-9pm that afternoon/evening. yesterday i fell asleep 3-6pm woke up, then slept 9pm-4am. messes up my rhythm but i've been able to get breakfast at 7am so i'm not in a rush to get to class. and i like unrushed breakfasts.

i sleep on my left side. i like comfy sheets. i also like to sleep in the buff during the summer.

That's one of the things I wish I could do Heero_Yuy84. Sleeping in shifts is a great idea. If I could do it, I really would. I just don't seem to like the idea of sleeping so many hours all at once.

That's why I was hoping to try something new all summer, but I had summer school, so I couldn't take it for a trial run. I was hoping to sleep all day, and be awake all night/morning. The way I see it, I'm still going to be awake for the main hours, but be asleep the usual most boring and HOT hours. You know, go to sleep around lunch time, wake up in time for dinner. Breakfast = dinner, and dinner has now become breakfast. Only difference is that lunch is at midnight, which is when you'd have a snak anyways, right? ~_^ But like I said, I wasn't able to put my plan into action. -_-

GoldenGundam:
So sleeping on your stomach under your pillow? I'm assuming your hear is pointed to a side then, unless you actually sleep face first into your mattress. o_0 One thing I find is really important, is how do you wake up? And I'm talking to everyone for this one. Would it be the same position you fell asleep as, or totally on the other side of the bed?

I'm a firm believer in the joy of naps. So much so, in fact, that I frequently fall asleep in class.

Seriously, though... uhm... I try to be in bed somewhere between 1:00 and 3:00 each night. And my alarm goes off at 8:30 (though I tend to not get up for at least twenty minutes after that). And I frequently fall asleep when I'm sitting on the couch trying to translate Plato's "The Apology" (next semester, we get to translate The Odyssey! Woohoo!)

I almost always remember my dreams, though sometimes they're only vague memories after two minutes and sometimes they're still vivid after a couple of days. Example: two nights ago I dreamed that a guy who I adopted as a little brother and his friend Allison randomly came and visited me. I'm still flashing back to that dream, for some reason.

Best place/position to sleep: for naps, on the couch (though for some reason I don't like dozing there when anyone else comes into the room--I always wake up). When napping--sleep on back or side. At night, I start out on my back for a few minutes in my bed and then, when I'm ready to actually fall asleep, I flip to my stomach. And for some reason this sort of reminds me of my dog's sleeping routine, if only in the fact that it is very routine...

Just to point out, we're supposed to get around 10 to 7 hours of sleep (or so they say), depending on our age. For some of us, we can't function unless we get that, for others, we haven't seen that much sleep since we were infants. lol

Myself, I usually get about 6 hours. With more homework, it's about 5 to 4 hours. I'm amazed how friends at school talk about 8 hours and so on. Last time I got 8 hours on a regular basis was probably about 3 years ago back in grade 9. -_-

Today's the exception though, because I fell asleep while doing homework (11:00pm) and woke up abruptly a little later (1:30am), so that means I'm doing homework right now (4:05am). It's a little different than usual.

Oh, and where it's the most comfortable to sleep? The floor! if I'm exhausted, I could just lie down, and sleep away. You know, use my forearm as a pillow. A blanket is useful when it's cold, but otherwise I'm fine. My mother's walked in on my sleeping on the floor once or twice. She simply walked away, but was sure to ask later when I woke up what in the world I was doing. lol ^_^
bla bla bla... Sleep? I gotta be in a secure environment... I'm paranoid and in Job Corps. Anyone touch my door while I sleep... I'm awake, muthafucka... Just try and sneak up on me...

Job Corps LOL!
I suppose you have one of those capacitance based "Touch=activated" alarms on your doorknob, that travellers enjoy using.

Record:
I've gone three days without sleep, and I have selept standing up, in lecterns, and in Roof Access stairwell.
ANIME CONFERENCE ANYONE?

Typical:
Sleep varies from 5 to 7 hours.

I prefer absolute darkness and quite, although, before we moved to the new facility I used to sleep by Zaku and Temjin (or Nephtis) - with a timed bootup function. Though I'd be disturbed every single times the harddisks started spinning up.. what a racket (DELL!).
I can't sleep by any of the NECs. BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

If I could do it without getting caught by my parents, I'd sleep suspended in midair.

I agree, except for the first part. Sleep is for the weak!

Mine include: Being late for a conference, getting chased by the Filth, being rejected by a University, and dying (don't ask how).

I also dream of wandering aimlessly, or at least without getting anything accomplsihed. I guess this reflects my life, in a way.

From my last dream, I was in a campus, with large bricks paitnted white. I walked past a row of square lockers, with grilles and locking tabs, and a windows where inside was fluorescent lights and paperwork, etc.
I was in a small stairwell, with fluerescent lights, red bricks all around, brown-painted metal railings, strangely, in the stairwell on the side of one platform (only one metre, or 3 ft, I'd say) there was a door, and a small window, framed by the same-brown-painted metal, the glass had small lines of metal through it (safety glass). Inside the room, the windows was blocked by a large leaved plant in a pot, the lights were on but nobody was there.
Previous ones have included an arcade room up on the top of a stairwel down a hallway, a maze of concrete, etc.

Strange. Also, why am I sharing this with you?

Problem is: in a conventional bed, sometimes in a dream I'd think that I was falling, then I'd make a jerking motion (in real life) that's creepy.

Best position for me:
I would sleep suspended in midair by my hands and feet (50 degree angle, straps pulled by tensioned anchors on floor and ceiling), or strapped to the ceiling.
Seriously, I'd enjoy it.
