Ture, though i think buddhism is one of the better mainstream religions if you must follow one... but thats probably because i have a fairly limited knowledge of it.
From what I know of Buddhism, it's just as much an opiate of the masses as any other religion. Your current situation is the fault of a previous life, for instance, and if you do well in this one, your next one will be even better.
true, but hinduism dwells on that a whole lot more then Buddhism dose ... now why am i bringing that into this ... i'm not sure ... i did a big philosophy paper on Siddharthra (a big one, not a good one), and from what i gathered they do and don't belive in that ... i think they belive it to a certain extent but belive that a person could always pull out of that cycle at any time in their lives if they chose to. Also, interestingly i couldnt find any thing that adequately described the buddhist reincarnation ... or i was just lookign in all the wrong places ...

You must admit, if mainstream religion never existed, we really wouldn't be where we are today.
is that suppsoed to be a bad thing? We wouldn't be in xactaly the same place, but we'd still be relitivly close ... with out religion to seperate us we'd still find other pety differences to fight about ... belive me ... we'd find them ... that or we'd fabricate them.

don't try to rationaly argue with fundamentalists of any kind. It won't happen, well there was that one time my friend carried out a sensible argument with some Moumens about why religions exist ... they came to the colclusion that religion is nothing but a manipulative creation of man and that faith is something totaly differnt and totaly neccessary ... i don't know how but he did and was pleased with it.
That's not a victory. The new college student Christian movement views what they're practicing in church as faith, not religion. So, when those Mormon bastards claimed faith is something totally different, they're really still practicing the manipulative creation of man, but they think what they're doing is different, because they don't want to accept they're falling for such ploys.

What can I say? Christians of any kind are brainless, hopeless, diseased creatures. They will never give in, because they're too shallow and selfish to admit theyr'e wrong, which is usually the exact reason they're trying to convert in the first place.

The relgious people are going to be like "Stop shitting on my religion" and the non-relgious people are going to say "but it's the truth" and the other person will say "You don't know that" and the other ones will say "we'll you don't know that either."

We don't know. There could be a God, there might be. I don't think the bible was the word of God. It's written so poorly the mear mortal can't understand. The book was suppose to be a guide to live by. Some people spend their entire lives studying it. I mean WTF is with that? By most people are the age of 14, when they need their moral values and from the bible. Most haven't even bothered enough to read it, or the important parts. But god, the thing is when you want to prove something in the bible you have to read about excerpt from the beggining, the end the middle. It's all in a cryptic "Thous shalt, un hither, doeth away" type of mode that is quite annoying.

Ok, now I've dissed on the bible.

See I am a BAD person. Don't let your children near me.

I have nothing wrong with people who are religious. So long as they're not stupidly so. Some of the stupid ones are the ones who are not at all open-minded. :\

Things between people can get extremely heated. Since you're basically attacking someones way of life and their ideals. Also what with being raised as a child and these ideas wired into their brains it can be a shock if they were to realize something different. Fuck I'd freak out if there was proof that God existed. Maybe I don't have faith that there is one. But damnit, if God wants me to follow him then I need him to do more for me than nothing. :/

Also one more thing about any relgion that has a big fat book. There should be religous licenses. You have to get a license to actually claim you're of a certain faith. You have to sit down and read that big fat book. Then take a big fat test. It'd be harder than the SAT and by the end you'd probably be pretty fucked up(or a better person). Also a large fee. Then you'd never have to goto church again. But alot of people are content with skimming the book, maybe checking out church when there's free brunch and then coming home and commiting their adultery. Then they go out and proclaim they're chrisitan or bah-hi or whatever. -_-.

WOW. Now I've ranted and I was trying to cool the fire.

You know if every one was like the Harri Krishna, the world would be a peaceful place, and every airport would have flowers at reasonable prices.
