Lyrs, this has been covered. Most of that is either

A: Things taken outta context

B: Done by god's good graces a la the taking the colt.

Well MinnieMoose its depends which version you get.

But I do think there are some big changes. Examples:

In the ten commandments
One says (King James) "Do not use false idols" another (Good News) "Do not make any image of heaven"

Job:
One version (King James) Job resist the urge to curse god despite the death of his children and slaves. Even after he is marked with boils he refuses to curse god after being told to by friends and family.

Another (Good News) Job never does curse god. But he does call him down using Jewish law to ask him what he did. After God makes a speech Job says something to the effect of "I have spoken too much". I should also add his friends unlike the King James version do take Job's suffering as a punishment from god and tell Job so.

Of course the next big question is do you believe in the bible (the version you read as your own) literal or symbolicly.

Some things are to be taken symbollically like stories of faith/what not to do/etc. Or like the commandments thing the image of heaven is to be taken as a false idol, same diff.

Load of crap right there. I've come to understand well the conditions from which Christianity arose. If you haven't, take a look in a history book.

Anyway, I wasn't arguing any religion vs religion this time. I was speaking more along the lines of 99% of religion comes from human naievity about the universe and our ability to extrapolate on what we think is true.
It's this thing called logic, it learns through observation. Certain rules that affect us repeatedly are engrained in the frontal lobe. That helps us develop a schema to interpret new information, against this repeating and definite set of rules. Now, to someone who says a prayer and sees lightning a minute later, and has no other evidence supporting or refuting it, it would be totally logical to think prayer = lightning. Doesn't mean it's true. Same goes for the deities that were personified from natural forces by prehistoric man, which developed and developed and developed and look what you've got. An extrapolated bunch of faulty logic. About sums up the bible.

Do everyone a favor and familiarize yourself with both areas of study before you try to argue one or the other :?

A couple days ago in my philosophy class, we watched a video about some of the more. . . erm, "extreme" private religious schools out there. The ones that literally teach children that the Earth is only around 5,000 years old, and that dinosaurs and humans lived together. It sickened me. It would seem that this poor fellow is the product of one such institution. I really wonder about this world sometimes. :?

Forget it Satomi....let the war burn...
I don't believe in Science and the Bible....Bible was made cuz ppl were scared of the unknown so they thought that a supernatural force was the doing...that's all humans been doing...blaming each one another to make themselves better for they are insecure no matter what...So ppl use God as an explanation for things they don't understand but...hey this is the universe...it's cold dark with many unknowns....Since I don't believe in Science even though it makes sense, it's just the universe doings...not god.... not science.....I've let go of all of them so I am not scared of the unknown...including death....ppl are full of lies and are afraid of the real truth and the only way to avoid the truth is to hide behind entertainment and education....you either take the blue pill or the red pill.........
Life is Shattered...There is no need to go on...in this human-filthed planet....Escape is not possible. To try and wipe them out is absurd...they are like cockroaches....
