Crazy....[Weapon banning in Australia]

Did anyone else notice how many times the term "teenager" was used in that publication? Why not, in leu of creating an all out ban, just make an age limit, preventing the sale to idiotic minors. Or hell, a competency test. That would all out prevent stupid accidents like this from occurring. I'm aware that country was founded by a bunch of cons, but was inbreeding that prevalent that it wiped out all common sense. I damn near happed here (out and out depending on what part of the nation.)

The scary part, too, is how quick they are to ban things after only a few (if that) incidents.

Regulation, not banning, IS the best bet. Doing a bunch of feel good banning is total shit.

I wish I could run my own country. Everything would be run nice and tight (government spending and regulation), there'd be lots of freedom AND order, bad people would be deported, forced to do hard labor, or be publicly humiliated, and I'd do my best to put it in the most friendly climate.

People could start their own TV and radio stations, so long as they behaved with the frequencies. Copyrights would be sensible. There'd be guns and swords and whatnot, so long as one met the qualifications.

It'd be a paradise, I bet.

Sad part of of the whole thing is that UK has recognised them as a nation and they have actually been in 'war'.

You can start by buying an oil rig which is situated in international waters and see if anybody will take you seriously.

I am an Australain and a sword Collecter and yes if someone brakes into my home I typically go for my broad sword.
How is that wrong? I mean there not braking in to sit down and have a cup of tea. They typically harness weapons of their own aswell and come in groups and a sword is really intimidating so I can avoid conflict all together when they typically run.

Yes, Maniacs going around with swords on the streets are bad but maniacs going around the streets with Axes suck too. Gonna ban axes, knifes, chains, large sticks and rocks too?

I'm closing off my apartment with Razor-wire and declaring my own country. I will secede from the union and defend my self militaristically with my swords and various sharp implements I find around the house. I figure I can hold off the American Government for a total of 5 or 6 seconds. I just hope they don't treat me like Manual Noriega.

I'd say get a cheap .22 and work your way up, but considering you live in Chicago, good luck doing that.

That's what I intend to do when I have better financial prospects.
