Talk to the friend, try to stop him, prevent it from happening prior.
If he was determined, then try to stop him.

If he was at the determined stage, he'd more likely than not start shooting. You try and stop him at that point. You'd just need to go through Mr. Cloud Of Buckshot to do so.skanks wrote:I say wrong, Talk to the friend, try to stop him, prevent it from happening prior. And if you did talk him out of it, what then? Just let it go, "it was a mental phase"? Tell his parents? How is that any different from telling the school? You're still just being a rat either way, right?

Maybe Im wierd. But these were 5th graders right? I dont see how a group of 5th graders could logically speak to this boy and tell him the right thing to do, I know times have changed but my momma told me this when i was younger. You see someone with a gun, get away safely and tell someone. When I was in 11th grade I saw a someone i went to school with since elementary school sell a gun on school grounds right in front of me. I didnt tell..I knew they saw me, see them do the exchange, and it was only me around and If I told, they would know it was me and.. I was pretty much dead. Do I regret not telling yes. Who knows what that gun ever did. But I was terrified. They were in gangs. That was my personal judgement. Ill live with that.
5th graders though. I was scared at 17. These are what 10 year olds.. At ten, i wouldve pissed my pants right there. <shrug> Those "friends" did what was right imho.. 1 person dead, when it couldve been even more. If those were daddys guns he had.. I hope theres some sort of punishment to his parents. Sure thier child is dead, but him not locking his guns up where children could get them endangered alot more then that. I hate guns.

First of all, 12yrs old? Was I really 12 in 5thgrade. It sounds like he was held back or something. I think I was atmost 11yrs old by the end of 5th grade.
He was probably a depressed kid who was picked on and wanted revenge. I know I wanted to kick some kids ass sometimes. But I never did because I was a pussy. Good for the kid for taking action against the opressors! RAWR. Well, no not good. I can understand his feelings though. If you're feeling belittled or outcast. You'll think about how a small piece of metal in your hand can give you so much power.
I don't blame his friends for running off. Basically if my friend was unloading a large quantity of guns in front of me, I'd be like "I'll beee righttt back". So yeah, the friends should have just stuck around and said "No way in fuck are you doing that, that's crazy. I don't want to do it". Then they get shot and he runs off and does is little rampage. The friends did the right thing. It was too late for that kiddy to be saved. He made the choice when he stole the guns. He made the choice to pull the trigger.
Also, I would hope my friend was joking. If my friend constantly harped on it over and over again. I would not be his friend. His friends probably put the warning signs to the wayside and in the back of their minds because they really did think he was joking. Not every kid has the ability to actually do these things. Especially a 12yr old 5th grader. But alas, one person out of billions does and it happens. Not much you can do.
Unfortunately the way this country is run, not everyone has the time or resources to listen to everyone else. Maybe it's a flaw in society

because i really need more details before i formulate an opinion.
you guys are just posting your views which are based on speculations which in turn have no solid base at all.
