Now, buddhism, taoism, zen, Paganism (yay!) etc and alot of EASTERN based religions have much better structures than western ones. Thats why the (us) westerns don't like them, because they remove one more aspect of control over the population.

but its not because I get off oh teehee stupid christians. I was one (of course you think I was never a 'true' christian since I lost faith and converted). I was raised around em. I have 20 billion of em in my family going 'oh its just a phaze, he'll come back to GOD soon"

The reason I bash mainstream christianity is because of how blatantly ignorant it is. I never said I had anything against jesus or his original teachings. Those however had significant mystical meanings which have been perverted and otherwise completely lost through the ages. Basically the only pure christians are those of john the baptist and jesus' direct time. Everything afterwards becomes distorted and invented, and if you want me to prove all of it I have sources on hand (it would take a good several hours to paraphrase all of them though).
Basically all of the dogmas in the christian church were either borrowed and/or distorted from other older religions.
I dont pick on christianity specifically either, islam is a joke, mainstream judaism has tons of flaws but they do have the kabala backing them. Mainstream buddhism is pretty corrupt too. The only times I'll talk about christianity is when either a blatantly christian belief is brought up for discussion or in this case, when the issue revolved around that specific religion.
Why do I care? I guess I just dont have a high tolerance for stupid. I dunno, maybe you should read that paper I wrote.

I guess I'm just too... logical maybe? to believe what any human being is going to tell me to believe. I believe there are forces at work out there, but I doub't there is a single person who can come close to understanding.

Eastern ideas like karma and "punishment reincarnation" strike me as being just as opiatic and controlling as "Behave and the big man won't strike you down, and maybe you can hang with him when you die"-Christianity. Buddhist pacifism is not an end all be all solution to problems, and zen doesn't work outside of specialized enviroments. The best religious path I have found is to find your own God, your own metaphor for God, or a lack of God thereof, and try to get along with everyone else.

even if you were to look at it from a completely political point of view, going through an extra shitty lifetime because you were a prick in the last is a little different from burning in the flames of hell for all eternity.
Aside from that buddhism's basic concepts developed way before the semitic religions', which initially depended heavily on versions of those same beliefs before they started making stuff up instead :\

As an interesting side note, early christians believed in reincarnation.

Well then let me read it, scan it, whatever.

I know all this technical stuff, what christians did, and what some stuff comes from. And yeah, I know christians get their shit confused.

It's because ppl want to interpret things their own way. And they just throw shit in there that sounds good. I think some are just masochists, thinking they have to have some strict life to get a good one with God. It's right there in the book what you should be doing, so why go to to church and listen to some idiot telling you his own way of interpreting it? It NEVER says in the bible you have to go to church, so wtf? You're supposed to take the religion how it is, not cultivate it and make up 25 fucken subdivisions, jesus, I don't even know them all. That certainly wasn't in the book.

It's not the religion, it's just the people.

You know, to be a christian, you're not sacrificing anything. It's underlined by faith, and if some things don't make sense? Your point? There's tons of things nowadays with people that make no sense. I don't think that it doesn't make sense, I just think there are things left out.

Basically, most ppl just want some proof which is what you want obviously from all your posts, but if you want THAT, you've completely lost the concept of the whole thing. I'm telling you, you do or you don't. IT'S ALL ABOUT FAITH. Once you've understood THAT about the religion, and stop studying what past 'christians' did and what they believed in, then you're set I think. You're not bashing the religion--just bashing ppl who believed in whatever they wanted.

Just remember Mike that there are TONS of ppl who aren't like ...well your mother.
