Lol, Feist is cool. Anyone ever play any of the games based on his books? Betrayal in Antara is awesome! (and yes, I'm serious, I enjoyed that game a lot)

Yeah, The Wheel of Time kicks ass, I've read the entire series like 3 or 4 times, and the big white book too. For something with both medieval AND technological themes, I recommend the book A Plague of Angels, by Sheri S. Tepper. It's awesome, one of my all time favorite books, right up there with 1984 and Swiss Family Robinson as far as I'm concerned. Also, I recommend the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Don't let the fact that they're by King fool you, they are in no way horror books, they are pure fantasy. It's not medieval, it's more technological... but it's in a world where a nuclear war happened, so there isn't much of said technology left. It kicks quite a lot of ass.

Hmm... with an intertwined love theme? Try the Dragonlance books. There's so many of them, most with dragons, mages, warriors, and a minor love-theme.

But, if I were in your place, I'd read The Belgariad by David Eddings. It's a 5 book series with about 300 pages a book. Followed by The Mallorean by him. Continuation with the same people, same length. Great books. Set in the medieval era, with lots of magic. Love theme intertwined. David Eddings writes the best characters ever.

Ah! Try the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind, that fits pretty damn well.

And then the Wheel of Time books by Robert Jordan. Amazing, my favorite series so far. But I'd try those other books first.

Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman (Heroes of the Lance authors) also did the Death Gate Cycle, my favorite series of theirs.

I never read the entire Wheel of Time Set of books... What was it like, Flint?

Fantasy or future technology- OK, how about a combination of both. Try "The Excalibur Alternative" by David Weber. Not as good (IMO) as his Honor Harrington series, but still quite a good read, and combines medieval and science fiction. I also just finished Michael Crighton's "Timeline" which also fits somewhat into that same category, though less-futuristic in the sci-fi area.

Well I may sound like a total fanboy for saying this, but I love certain blends of Fanfiction, especially the Ranma 1/2 side of the coin. I have read almost every book series y'all have mentioned so far, and still love them, but I just have to plug The Saotome Gambit. Probably one of the most supurb pieces of fanfiction out there, it blends what I originally thought was going to be a hokey premise: Ranma 1/2 in the World of Battletech. I was so wrong. It's an action story, it's an adventure story, its a love story, and it's a pageturner(err... pagedown presser?). If anyone wants a good red, here it is.

Hmm... if you're thinking of Gimli, I think you're wrong. This was from one the Dragonlance books.

Ahh yes, the Death Gate Cycle is great... but unfortunately, I could never find the fifth book. So I couldn't finish.

But the Wheel of Time books are amazing. And not even finished yet. Hmm... how to critique this? The world is second only to Middle Earth in depth and complexity, though it seems to lack its magic. The characters are very realistic and grow so much through the series. I'd say the characters in themselves are at least half the series. If you don't like these characters, you won't like the book. But I find they are very likeable. If you've read the Sword of Truth series, I think that's best to compare it with. Or liken it to, because they are somewhat similar. The most similar of all series I've read.

I don't know if I mentioned The Wayfarer Redemption series by Sara Douglass, the best Australian authoress ever! Great books.
