I would go for 5.1 The guy next door to me last year had a 5.1 system in his room, and it worked great. I was watching Saving Private Ryan with him and it was exceptional. Just don't ask me what he had. All I remember was that they were Aiwa.

Nah nah, I would just put them next to the monitor. That is spiffy. Set the speakers up how the damn box tells you, this isn't like how you can make Kraft Mac' N' Cheese in a toaster oven, you gotta follow the directions.

On that account, I think you should state how much you want to pay and what your current setup is...

Headphones are actually quite nice, if they're a good set.

the box didnt say how to set em up
anyway, A sounds much better, more surround-sound like since the sound is like
---------:O-----------
instead of
\ :O /

anyway it cost $180 and my previous setup was the lame speakers that came with the comp

2.1: Any brands will do fine as long as the casing is _wood_. Mine is JVC (it's a compo, actually. Has a plastic case sub-woofer and it resonates like hell)

5.1: I actually prefer home theatre set than computer set, mainly b/c former look better as furniture.
