Exactly.
The thing is..Michael stopped righting the JP books after Lost World cause Speilburg and his crew kept butcharing the stories...really bad...he had nothing to do with JP3. I liked Adromeda Strain as well..and The 13th Warrior...though most people may not..o.O. Sphere was cool until they left out a bunch of parts that were in the book that would of made it..somewhat better...

Classical political economy has always liked to conceive social capital as a fixed magnitude of a fixed degree of efficiency. But this prejudice was first established as a dogma by the arch-philistine, Jeremy Bentham, that soberly pedantic and heavy-footed oracle of the "common sense" of the nineteenth century bourgeosie. Bentham is among philosophers what Martin Tupper is among poets. Both could only have been manufactured in England.

K. Marx, Capital, Volume One, Part Seven, Chapter 24
Also I could have mentioned that if it were not for Dracula, nobody would know who Bram Stoker is. Same deal with Gaston Leroux, author of The Phantom of the Opera, which is very different from any film adaptation that was made of it. I could mention more than a few writers whose names have been forgotten, except they were named in the writings of people who are still read today.

Read Crichton's work. You'll be pleasantly surprised. What I really like is how he uses pictures and maps to further explain what's going on in the book.

Just to let you all know, after reading Timeline, I had a disturbingly good understanding of the Quantum Theory.

indeed.

Don't blame the bad movies on the writer..

Indeed. The writer is one of the lowest links on the cinematic film chain. Nobody ever blamed porn movie writers for whatever they didn't like about that industry. Screen writer occupy a position analogous to politicans in contemporary politics - nothing can really move without 'em, but they're really on the passive end in the last analysis.
