:) if your going to overclock get the one I mentioned. At normal speeds and temperature it brings the the temperature down to -40ºF. Great for overclocking.

The simplest way to overclock a processor is to change the front side bus speed in the BIOs settings. I have the same processor and stock fan you do and I managed to make it think it was a 1900+ It was a little over 1.6 GHz and I decided to change it back to normal frequencies. To make it faster I think you then need to be able to change the processor's multiplier setting with an unlocking kit. Beyond this I don't know and need to do more research. Overclocking can reduce the life of you cpu, or fry it altogether (though that isn't quite common). In other words don't do it unless you are prepared for the consquences.

Below is a link on the Tech TV website for the show The ScreenSavers. There are two videos that visually explain the changing of the front side bus speed.

And here is the link to go to if your serious about it.

gee, thats like a speed increase of *gasp* .07 Ghz!!! I'd rather save up and get an Athlon XP 2800+ than fucking up the one i have now.

Yeah it's not much, though I'm still new at this and don't have the hardware to get it particularly high. At the second link I showed you they have multiple instances of the 1800+ running at 600MHz or more and running stable.
