Of course we use wooden ones cause we'd kill eachother with regular real swords though we have real ones (I have 2 katanas upstairs and one of Gloins battle axes from Lort of the Rings). Anyways, Im currently constructing a new sword which I will use in my friends new movie.

Im making a wooden zanbattou. Mine will be exactly 8 feet in length and wiegh bout 15 pounds but thats a esitmation. And yes I can wield this. My fighting style revolves around huge weapons. I already wield a 10 pound 5 foot (wooden) broad sword and it's fairly easy.

Once I get it I may take pictures of it. Im painting the blade black and having rune symbols on it (or elvish...cant choose)

Anyone else have a certain "style" of sword fighting?
I like to play Rurouni Kenshin with my friends too!!1!

...wait...no, no I don't. Hrmmm...

For school i once re-created a Viking battle and basically its just guys with swords hacking away at eachothers shields until either breaks.
Thats my style.

Yea, go ahead and call me a wimp...I am in a group (though i have not gone to it in awhile do to school) where we fight with foam-made swords, u know the ones that have a cloth sock over them and sell them at gatherings. Saw a company sell them at GenCon this year. But I enjoy it, though I am currently fighting with a quarterstaff. But we also roleplay in this, as I am not sure if you guys just like to fight.
I am a random person when i feel like it...and no, you should not take me seriously when i have a monkey on my head :-P

I practice at home with a Bokken.

And if a person is trained well enough a sword can be effective in close combat. They still have feet and hands they can use and stabing techniques.

actually I prefer fist fighting over sword fighting. Im getting into it sword fightning bit by bit.

We dont play "Kenshin". Though for fun we try out th emoves in the series. We usually get to gether and fight basically. Have competitions. I usually dont do that good.

Stupid thing is they all suck at fist fighting so Im the best fist fighter in the group. So thats why i took up sword-fighting.

I'm restarting my Tai Chi sword training tomorrow, my dad teaches me since he's been doing it for a long time, in fact since before i was born. I will probably do some hand-to-hand combat as well, because after giving up karate about 10 months ago i haven't done much in the way of martial arts. 10 years of karate was too long.
